PREMIERE: Night Garden - Ceaseless [vysyon recordings]

Vysyon is a London-based label run by Night Garden, pushing the broader spectrum of techno. Now onto its second release, the label's identity is shaping as anticipated, following the opening release ‘Mercuri’ from Swiss artists Varuna & Mateo Hurtado, in June 2025.

A medieval embodiment at its core. The name derives from the Middle English spelling of vision, rooted in a form of medieval poem called the Visio, where a protagonist guides you through a dreamworld of revelation, turmoil, or ultimately, the unknown. Conceptual framing for labels are common, but this one carries weight for me. The parallel presents itself when a producer steers you through a musical plot line of mysticism and unease, pulling the listener into an encounter with themselves. Disorientation arranged deliberately, as you forge a path through atmosphere and psychedelic arrangements.

The latest release, Gost, comes from label founder Night Garden himself, steeped in abstract atmospherics and hypnotic pressure. James and I were at the back of the dancefloor at the opening of Ntogn at FOLD back in March, talking about this release and the premiere. He's put out music on labels including Bait and Aurora, but this is his first offering on his own platform. He'd been sitting on these tracks for a while, pondering the right moment, foreshadowing some future window that felt appropriate. But sometimes you just have to go, and that's what we have here.

So what have we got? Four tracks that are naturally Vysyon in sound. James works in music and is one of the most knowledgeable people I know. His role in distribution means he listens to an incomprehensible volume of music, and he loves sharing it. Tuned to what's new, who's next, discovering names, labels, styles and elements that feed his own output as both stimuli and ingredient. We've joked about the sheer consumption of it all, the endless expanse of what's out there, smiling as we say it, because there are damn worse problems to have. But what we kept coming back to was the importance of carving out time to actually listen with intent. Moving beyond soundtracking your day with half-heard tracks and understanding how they were built. Vital for mood, but in this case, essential creative fuel for producers. Listening builds a filter, and alongside it, a large pool of appreciation.

The premiere today is for the third track on the EP, Ceaseless. It carries an industrial rawness, a deep knee-wobbling rumble and a sense of premonition that feels perfectly suited to the Visio concept. What struck me most was the tactful use of stereo audio, these distant, tinkling, alarm-like jitters that make the track feel perpetually on the verge of detonation. Holding the suspense, swaying your mind, your hearing, from left to right. Broad, immersive and quietly relentless. It was my favourite from the release and I'm glad we get to premiere it here. Listen to the whole thing and see where you end up.
