Delayed with... Fran Acosta

In the past few years, we've had a good look at a part of the Spanish scene with a taste for deeper, murkier shades of techno, drum & bass, ambient, and everything that blurs the lines between them. What makes it interesting and heartwarming is seeing crews from different cities - Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Granada, actually look out for each other, share stages, and keep things moving collectively. Real talent, mostly working away from the obvious routes.

This time we're staying in Granada with Klub Collective, a crew we first met at Mostra and Perpendicular Festivals. Later, we wrote about them when Utopian sent us a mix for the series.

Now it's Fran Acosta's turn. The recording comes from last year's Vortex Festival, a lineup that brought in Kangding Ray, Luigi Tozzi, and Peter Van Hoesen, among others, where Acosta played the Garden Stage as part of the Klub Collective showcase.

After an emotive, synthetic intro, the set moves in a way that feels unpredictable yet never unsettling. The defining thread is rhythmic; patterns shift constantly, but always in conversation with the hypnotic synths and tribal percussion beneath. There's a recurring logic to it: a steady four-to-the-floor, broken apart, played with, then returned to. Back home, then off again.

Deep, but genuinely fun to listen to. The pacing is strong throughout. Mixing different BPMs and rhythmic structures can easily lose the plot, but when it's handled right, and it is here, it builds a specific kind of atmosphere that holds. Klub Collective with Fran Acosta in the driver's seat, doing exactly what we're here for.
