Favorite Releases from September 2026

Fall is the season of reverb, the season for dub listening sessions, so it's only natural that this month's list is heavily influenced by dub in its various shapes and forms.

These might not be your dub 101 releases, but they certainly share some of its fundamental ideas. Less is more. Space, restraint, and effects allow individual elements to feel bigger and more effective. From marvelous albums by Carmen Villain and Ghost Dubs to hypnotic EPs from Sa Pa, Carrier, and Ghost Warrior, there are plenty of different flavors of one of our favorite genres for this time of year.

Long players from brm & nuwa and Clima provide that ever-important daytime listening energy, with subtle melodies and atmospheres perfectly suited to sun-kissed living rooms.

Marco Maldarella and our longtime favorite Sciama venture further into that wonderfully fruitful grey area where techno and drum & bass meet, each finding their own way through it.

And as a cherry on top, Perila delivers another remarkable record from the experimental ambient world. Relaxing and challenging in equal measure, it's the kind of combination that makes her music so interesting in the first place.
