Delayed with... AHIL
It’s not about the bpm. Or is it? According to AHIL, the 125 bpm area allows for a special kind of state: the unfolding, the deepening while still being able to have space to breathe. Somehow, movement and meditation become one in that journey.
The Rotterdam-based DJ, and founder and resident of the platform Hypnosis, delivers a mix that plays with several intensities and trip levels, while remaining just around the 125 bpm mark. Rather than treating tempo as a fixed point, AHIL explores what can happen within its limits, how far a track can take you, how long a certain feeling can be sustained, and when it’s time to move somewhere else.
AHIL is another notable name emerging from a Dutch deep and psychedelic techno scene that’s been picking up pace. We first came across AHIL through mutual friends, with dancefloors bringing us together again along the way. It’s a scene we’ve found ourselves orbiting more and more, with Hypnosis among the platforms carving out space for this deeper, more psychedelic side of techno. AHIL’s mix sits right in that territory, moving between different intensities without losing sight of the space that makes the journey possible.
