PREMIERE: POD & Edward Richards - Nautilus (feat. Miles Henry) [Kinetic Vision Records]

Melbourne based, Kinetic Vision has been blurring lines, and pushing boundaries since 2022. Helmed by a group of talented Aussies, JXTPS, Edward Richards and Pod, the trio has released a number of standout releases in the short four years of their on-going collaborations. Salicina, SQZR, and Syndromeda were personal highlights but I do recommend digging through the entirety of the backlog.

Marking the end of a string of hand-stamped vinyls, A Hallucinatory Forest joins Polar Phase, and Temporal Loop Transcendence as POD and Edward Richards conclude their latest collaborations. The four tracker includes three originals, plus a stellar driving remix by Evigt Mörker.

Nautilus, A2 on the release, really hits home at the ethos of Kinetic Vision. Molding different genres together to create something new out of something familiar. Enough to draw listeners in and keep them hooked as their brains pick apart the known and unknown. See-sawing between dub textures, some 4-4 elements thrown in on top, why not! And oh, that percussion. Miles Henry’s live contributions via acoustic kit & electronic drumming, the human element elevates the track to the next level as in his words he, ‘seeks to capture the impossibility of playing like a machine.’

Nautilus and in turn the rest of A Hallucinatory Forest will be released both digitally and on vinyl, November 13th.
