Premiere: DJ Sodeyama - Physical Feeling (Atomic Moog remix) [Masa Series]
Almería-based Masa Series continues its 2026 release schedule in style. Following the excellent Cluster II various-artists compilation, which we featured in our Favorite Releases from February article, the label returns with a four-track EP from Tokyo mainstay DJ Sodeyama, including a phenomenal remix from French modular wizards Atomic Moog.
The original version of Physical Feeling is raw and direct. A punchy kick leads the way through stripped-back techno that feels perfectly suited to a dark, smoky basement. Our premiere today, Atomic Moog's remix, takes the track somewhere else.
Compared to the original, the low end becomes more textured, filled with subtle details that keep morphing throughout the ride. The groove remains solid underneath, while ethereal pads gradually introduce a lighter feeling. They slowly open up and rise before dispersing, making way for a modular, hypnotic sequence that takes over the second half of the track.
What I particularly enjoy here is the balance Atomic Moog manages to strike. The remix keeps changing its face, but its temperament remains the same. There is plenty of groove and an uplifting quality to the pads, yet the hypnotic pull is always there underneath. It feels open and spacious while still carrying enough weight where it matters.
