Favorite Mixes from May 2026

May’s selection arrives from somewhere between destinations. As we write this, we’re making our way through Spain, crossing landscapes that seem to change character every couple of hours. One moment it’s dense forest and winding mountain roads, the next it’s endless plains dotted with wildflowers, wind turbines, medieval villages, and fields already preparing for summer. Naturally, music became the unofficial narrator of the trip.

Some mixes found us before we even landed. During long hours suspended between continents, Romi, Luna Ludmila, and Ultramarin provided exactly the kind of listening that makes air travel feel slightly less unnatural. Their selections move at a pace that allows the mind to wander freely, occupying that peculiar territory between sleep, memory, and anticipation.

Back on the ground, the soundtrack shifted alongside the scenery. Ripperton delivered one of those mixes that fit slow mornings, strong coffee, and the gradual process of figuring out where the day might lead. The longest drives of the trip belonged to Daniel. & Passaat, Gizem, and Jin Synth. There is something deeply satisfying about spending hours on the highway with a mix that understands pacing. No rush toward a destination, no constant need to escalate. Just a steady flow of ideas unfolding as the scenery changes outside the window. Somewhere between wildflower fields, wind turbines, gas station coffee, and the next mountain range, these mixes became part of the landscape.

Then come the moments when the route becomes less predictable. A wrong turn. A narrow road. An unexpected detour toward a village that wasn’t part of the original plan. Patrick Russell, Doozer, and Kincaid thrive in that territory. Their mixes are packed with the kinds of decisions that keep listeners engaged, drawing from house, techno, electro, bass, and breaks without feeling constrained by any of them. Each takes a different route, but all three share a willingness to embrace surprise.

Of course, these associations belong entirely to our own experience. The beauty of a great mix is that it adapts to whatever setting surrounds it. The same recording that soundtracked a mountain road for us might accompany your morning walk, late-night train ride, or quiet evening at home. That’s part of the magic. As for us, the journey continues. Somewhere ahead lies our final destination, a place hidden among the forests of the Spanish midland where friends, music, and another unforgettable weekend await. Until then, these are the mixes keeping us company. We hope they find their way into your travels as well.
