Favorite Releases from October 2025
October's releases felt like cartographers sketching new maps of rhythm and emotion. Ina Kacz's QEONE debut carved out her own territory through tribal propulsion, marked by syncopated energy and restless intent. Adhémar's Mountain View on Oslated walked a parallel path, though slower and closer to the soil, tracing circular grooves like ritual symbols under moonlight. BLNDR's return to Hypnus extended that motion into a measured architecture of groove, hypnotic yet full of grace. And Reeko's new album for Samurai Music stood as a gravitational center, where deep techno, drum & bass, and abstraction orbit each other with a strange and deliberate symmetry.
Elsewhere, the geography shifted into subtler terrain. Carrier's long-awaited debut album and return to Modern Love arrived as an exploration of perception itself, its shifting timbres and rhythmic mirages dissolving boundaries between ambient and club logic. Dave Huismans, reviving his In Transit alias, found stillness within pulse, slow-moving yet alert, the kind of music that rewards quiet rooms. Melantónia's “Variierende Töne II" moved beyond form entirely: organic and synthetic, meditative yet questioning, it played like a dialogue between machines and the soil. In that same spirit, Opsin's 'Through The Wall' captured the sound of two friends in free fall, music as a survival instinct, unfiltered and authentic. And to end, VC-118A's Avian on Delsin and Carré & Danny Goliger's EP on Fast at Work offered two complementary forms of movement: one melancholic and gliding, the other polyrhythmic and irreverent. Together, they closed the map with motion still unfolding, coordinates left deliberately incomplete.
